"When I first started powerlifting, I was at best a joke. In my first seven meets I finished dead last. I wasn't just beaten either, at times, I was absolutely destroyed. It wasn't uncommon for me to find myself two or three hundred pounds behind the leaders going into the deadlift. After the deadlift, well, the leaders weren't even in sight. I hate to admit this, but some guys could have beaten me without even benching. Their squat and deadlift totaled more than I totaled on all three lifts. Heck, at that time, even women and children could beat me. There was even a joke going around that the U.S.P.F. [powerlifting federation] was going to revoke my lifting card because I was impersonating a powerlifter. At least I think it was a joke. My little sister Mary Jean would say, 'Judd, you have to quit competing you are embarrassing the family.' She was serious.

Obviously, I've come a long way in the sport. During my career, I had literally gone full circle-from one of the worst lifters to ever step on a lifting platform, to one of the best. And I did all that with a body that is not genetically constructed for powerlifting. In fact, it's been said that I have the body of an 11-year-old stamp collector and that my legs are so skinny they look like a pair of pliers in shorts.

How did I do it? Well it wasn't the way I stacked or staggered some anabolic drug. In fact, I've never taken any drugs. The way I achieved world class status was through my mind. I learned to play the game of powerlifting above my shoulders. Through scientific means, I learned to take control of my environment, the people in it, and best yet; I've learned to take control of myself. The secret to my success and strength lies in these abilities.

The best part of all this is that you can achieve these abilities just as I have. That's what this book is all about. It's designed as a learning manual and was written with the intent of presenting a systematic approach to prepare you for powerlifting competition.

Hockey Made Easy is a nice, thorough and informative book that can benefit hockey players of any age level although I think this book would be best suited toward players of a younger age group. It's a relatively short read which may be appealing for those in a younger age group but don't be fooled by it's medium-sized length - it's actually packed with a ton of information. I found that the part of the book that discussed goal-setting was the best part. Not only does it apply to hockey players but it can benefit those who play any sport or who don't play any sport at all. It's definitely worth a read!

I'm the new coach for my son's hockey team and I learned a lot from reading this book, the tips within it was exactly what I was searching for. I found the book well written and very useful. I also like the author's way of explaining things so everyone can understand. Great job!

The chapter on being a better player will benefit anyone that plays the game. It goes all the way from improving skills, to strength, tips on defense and how to analyze plays properly. Defensive and offensive tips are especially helpful. The top 5 hockey workouts include endurance, speed, skating, goalie and stickhandling and there are exercises for each one. The diet and nutrition section discusses carbs, proteins, fats and hydration. Some great suggestions for mental preparation are developing self-confidence, focus, composure, playing loose and calming anxiety. It also gives you suggestion for a pre-game ritual. The whole book is something any hockey player should read.

Workbooks usually come with an answer key that I can pull out and use to grade my child's work. I cannot find one with this book or find one to purchase separately. There is no phone number in the book to call for customer service. This book is going back.

Great to have this book at home .My child uses this book in school. Since the kids are not allowed to take the text books home having my own reenforces lessons taught . Seen an improvement in attitude towards math. I recommend every parent to have a grade text book at home for any subject a child struggles with.

This is a new curriculum that our school system is using. As a parent, I love it. It is very simple and easy to understand, especially for those who have been out of school for a long time that have to help their kids with homework.

This is the exact same book my son has for school. As in this is the classroom book. Terrible what schools have come to these days. Absolutely no learning whatsoever. This is fine for just a workbook but nothing like the actual math books I had in school when I was a kid. Again, fine for some extra practice but this should not be the actual book used in schools. It really doesn't explain much compared to a real math book. I bought a copy so he can do homework related to his class since he does not get homework from school (and they wonder why his school is a Title One school).

I love this book bcz very detailed explain math words and how to applicate on other questions.

I purchased this for my friends daughter during the summer so she can get a head start and she loved it. She said all the problems I helped her with in the book are exactly what they went over in class and her teacher said she did a wonderful job. Money well spent!
